Kata Paradise Beach
The sand is perfect, the sea is very clean. For six months of the year (November to April) it is flat calm, fabulous for swimming, snorkelling and jet skis. For the other six months of the year, there is great surf, a beautiful breeze ideal for surfing and kiting.
Kata Paradise Beach InformationKata Beach really is a Paradise Beach . For me it is the best beach in the world – year round.
Kata Beach is shaped as a natural crescent of perfect golden sand , facing the Andaman Sea and the Indian Ocean . Unlike many other beaches on the West Coast of Phuket, the golden sand does not shelve steeply, this means the surf has a longer run in the Green season , and it is much safer to swim in during the green season with a small island, Koh Phu ( Crab Island) acting as a natural breakwater to the whole bay. In the high season, yachts can anchor safely in this bay , just off the beach and it is easy for small dinghies to land on the beach . Also the longtail boats can operate straight from the beach in the High season to take you to other various small deserted beaches , some of which are not accessible by any other means. The ‘happening’ end of Kata Beach (the South End ) is also my favourite . Here you will find a lively Reggae Bar, three or four great local restaurants right on the beach, together with the ultra chic Rekata Beach Club and the world renowned Boathouse Hotel. There is also a standing wave water park for you to learn or improve your surfing skills year round. I rarely travel to any other beaches – this has just about everything.
